The group meet fortnightly at the Sunset Galley and love nothing more than to share a laugh and learn a new skill.
‘Nanna’ Theresia Bailey said she has been coming since the beginning of the craft group and said she loves the company of the ladies who come.
“Honestly it is such a lovely group of people who come and there is always the chance to learn something new or different,” Theresia said.
“In the past I have done lots of volunteering and after I had to give that all up I really wanted to find something else I could do and that is when I found out about the group and the rest they said is history.
“Everyone is so nice and friendly so the company is great. We have a chat, do some craft and leave feeling great.”
Theresia said when you come to the group there is no pressure which she finds refreshing.
“Sometimes you come and don’t end up doing any of your own craft because you are learning from other people but then some times you just want company and do your own thing,” she said.
“In the group we have some older people but also coming are younger people who want to learn skills that aren’t taught these days and that is really great.
“All us ladies love to share what we know with the next generation but usually they teach us something as well.”
Deb Cooper also said she enjoyed coming along for the laughs and sharing of knowledge.
“Through my friend I learnt about the group and I wanted to come along and see what it was all about,” Deb said.
“I know how to do a few crafty things but there is always room to learn some more skills and this is the perfect place to do it.
“I started coming when it started in the middle of 2017 and it has been a great way to meet like minded people and to have some company.”
Fern Brassington said despite being one of the younger members of the group, the fortnightly meetings are a great way to get out of the house and have some time with the ladies.
“I found out about the group via Instagram and asked if I could come along even though I am not a nanna,” Fern said.
“I have lots of young children and found I wanted to do something just for me and this was a great way to improve skills and have fun with some great ladies.
“I am from England and so coming along each fortnight I have created a little group of nannas who have adopted me as my family is so far away. I love it and they love it as well.”
