Op shop coordinator Marie Pryor said 90 per cent of people do the right thing when it comes to donating clothes or items which are in good condition.
“We do thank those people for donating to the shop to help people in need,” she said.
Marie said recently the shop has received broken toys, rusty kitchen utensils and filthy clothes.
The staff believe the shop is being treated as a dumping ground because people don’t want to take it to the tip themselves.
“We can’t keep any of it and end up having to dispose of it ourselves,” Marie said.
Staff occasionally take clothes home if they need to be washed.
Marie and Jean Atkins wished their customers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
The shop will be closed from Saturday, December 22 until Thursday, December 27.
“We ask people to refrain from leaving donations during this time,” Marie said.
