Terry Memory got the group up and running and said it’s the largest amount of money the group has donated since it first formed.
Mr Memory named the group after his brother-in-law Arnie, who died from MND.
Participants are passionate about helping to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research, while catching up over a social game.
MND can affect a person’s ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. This is because neurones which control muscles fail to work normally.
Mr Memory and his partner Sylvia witnessed the degeneration of Arnie, as they cared for him in the last year of his life.
The group formed about five years ago and new players are always welcome to join.
Mr Memory thanked Rob Dwyer from the Laurieton United Services Club for supplying the space where the group plays each week.
The members play every Friday between 2pm and 5pm at the Laurieton United Services Club.
