Manning-Great Lakes Police are appealing for information from the community after a body was found in the Yarratt State Forest, north-west of Taree.

The discovery was made after two local NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) brigades were called out to a fire in the dense bushland around 4.30am on Thursday, December 27.
As the crews were in the process of putting out the small fire, they located what police believe to be “an adult deceased person”.
During a press conference held at Taree Police Station, Detective Chief Inspector Rod Blackman, crime manager for Manning-Great Lakes Police District, said investigators are treating the death as suspicious.
The body was found a short distance from Yarratt Road, which runs across the northern section of the State forest.
Police have set up an extensive crime scene in the area, as an investigation is underway.
Insp Blackman said it’s hoped that the post mortem examination to confirm identity and cause of death, will be conducted on Friday, December 28.
The body was found in a very remote area of bushland and police are asking if anyone saw anything suspicious in the last 12 to 24 hours in the Yarratt State Forest vicinity to contact police.
If anyone in the community or visiting the area is aware of a someone who is missing under usual circumstances, also contact police.
