Detective Senior Constable Martin Gampe said the incidents have occurred at beach car parks and caravan parks across the areas of North Haven, Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills.
“People have left their wallet and keys on the seat and return to their car to find a smashed window and their belongings gone,” he said.
“In some cases, by the time people realise their wallet has been stolen, the accused has already racked up half a dozen purchases using pay pal at different locations.”
Police are also warning boat users to be extra vigilant after a spike in thefts from boats and water crafts over the holidays.
They are calling on all boat owners on the Mid North Coast to make sure they remove their fishing and boating equipment from their vessels when not in use.
In particular the thefts have occurred between Blackmans Point through the Hastings and down into the Camden Haven.
On December 24 a Lake Cathie man was charged by Laurieton Police with driving in a dangerous manner on Ocean Drive.
A member of the public captured footage of the motorist on dashcam, which allegedly showed the man overtaking on a double line road and almost colliding with another vehicle.
On December 30 Laurieton Police fined a Port Macquarie man $550 for failing to leave the premises of Laurieton United Services Club, when asked to do so.
Anyone who sees anything suspicious is urged to contact the Port Macquarie Police Station on 6583 0199. For an emergency dial triple zero.
