Yvonne passed away at Mingaletta Uniting Care Home on June 13, 2017 at the age of 90. 

She was well known in the Camden Haven for her active involvement and philanthropic work with groups.  Her estate has been divided up to help continue to support them in the future. 

In 2012 Yvonne was awarded with the prestigious Senior Citizen of the Year award. 

Yvonne worked as a primary school teacher and was principal when she retired in 1986. 

After seeing the wonderful work of Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) at the Sydney Easter Show in 1998, Yvonne was inspired to support the group.

RDA Kendall President Elizabeth Wallace said she felt overwhelmed when she recently found out that Yvonne had donated funding for the group. 

Elizabeth said Yvonne was a dear friend who will be greatly missed. 

“She was a very generous person, a tough old lady and the community was everything to her,” she said. 

“She spent her whole life giving to others.” 

Yvonne has been a regular contributor to the group for over 20 years and donated funds to ensure the group’s first horse, named Quota’s Gift, could be purchased. 

Yvonne also gave a donation towards the purchase of another horse named Joy, after her own middle name. 

Elizabeth said Yvonne’s donation would go towards the feed and upkeep of the horses. 

Yvonne’s father, Rev John Smart Fisher was a Congregational Minister and Yvonne was involved with the Uniting Church in Laurieton. The church has received funding for the cleaning and painting of the building. 

Yvonne was also very keen on classical music and was interested in new talent. She has donated funding for performances and musical scores to a Port Macquarie-Hastings choir. 

Yvonne was also a life member of the Camden Haven Neighbourhood Centre at Laurieton. The group has received funding to help with its continual work for the community.
