Dr Jeanell Carrigan and Dr Goetz Richter have both been awarded a Members of the Order (AM) in the 2019 Australia Day Honours List.

The Australia Day 2019 list was the largest in the history of the Order of Australia, recognising 1127 outstanding and inspirational Australians.
Dr Carrigan and Dr Richter have been closely associated with the Camden Haven and Port Macquarie-Hastings for over 25 years.
Dr Carrigan was recognised for significant services to music education, particularly piano, and to the performing arts.
Dr Richter was recognised for significant services to music as a concert violinist, artistic director, mentor and educator.
Spokesperson for the Kendall National Violin Competition, Keri Levy, said Dr Carrigan and Dr Richter instigated the Camden Haven Music Festival.
She said they were also instrumental in helping to establish the Kendall National Violin Competition, which has just celebrated its 20th year.
Dr Carrigan and Dr Richter have also assisted with the Kendall PhiloMusica concert series, the Kendall String Festival and school concerts.
“Their contribution and generosity to our region has been extraordinary over this time,” Keri said.
The break-down of Order of Australia Honours in the Australia Day 2019 list is:
- 19 appointed Companions of the Order (AC)
- 71 appointed Officers of the Order (AO)
- 282 appointed Members of the Order (AM)
- 755 Medals (OAM) awarded.
