The facility officially opened at the school on Thursday, February 7, after planning for the implementation was initially broached in 2015.
The school’s P&C was the driving force behind securing funding for the $57,000 playground, which came from a number of fundraisers and grant approvals from the state government and federal government.
The previous playground had been in use since 2001.
The school’s principal Leonie Cosgrove said the opening was a very exciting day as students had been waiting a long time to see the playground come to fruition.
She thanked members of the school’s P&C for their hard work and dedication in securing funding for the project.
“Not only did they keep working hard to achieve their goal but they also asked for help from people around them,” Ms Cosgrove said in her address to students.
“It’s very hard to do some things on your own.”
Ms Cosgrove said community members and local businesses also contributed to the fundraising effort.
She gave a special thank you to Wendy Hudson for helping to write the grant applications for the project.
The students played an active role in contributing their ideas for the new playground’s design.
The P&C displayed the design options for the students to vote on. The chosen design got 157 votes which represented 75 per cent of the school’s students.
