A reader is urging Wauchope people to be careful when disposing of plastic rubbish after she found a dead bird killed by a plastic ring.

She was going for an early morning walk along Blackbutt Road and when she got to the nature strip, she saw the dead satin bowerbird.
"It had a bit of plastic in its mouth and it couldn't get it off. It was one of the blue plastic rings at the top of a plastic milk container," she said.
"Sometimes people leave out blue items because the male satin bowerbird collects them to make a bower to attract females.
"I want people to aware of bits of plastic in their yard," said the woman.
"I cut those plastic rings in half when I remove them. It's not an endangered species but it's an animal which died a horrible death and it could have been avoided." she aid.
