Laurieton residents have expressed their concern after Bruce Porter Reserve was damaged by motorists over the weekend.

Julia Reynolds lives close by and said there have been several incidents.

Julia said the most recent incident happened on Friday, January 15 at about 9.30pm but they have also happened during the day.

Lake Cathie Raiders Football Club president Troy Pemberton said he was devastated to learn of the heinous act on February 16.

Julia is calling for cameras and solar sensor lights to be implemented by council to help track down the suspects.

She said the damage is never properly fixed as the wheels of a four wheel drive gouge the ground.

In 2017 Port Macquarie-Hastings Council said spending council funds in this way was not a priority.

A spokesperson from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council said council is concerned about the recent vandalism of sports fields in the Camden Haven and is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying those responsible.

The spokesperson said community members are encouraged to call the police if they do have any information in relation to the occurrences.

“The cost to repair this damage is significant and uses valuable public funds and council resources,” the spokesperson said.
