I take exception to everything she has written, particularly her belief that “God is in control of the world and that it is arrogance to think people can control climate through reducing emissions”.
Too ludicrous to even bother commenting on.
So, on this occasion I’ll focus only on her claim that “renewables can’t sustain large cities or even small villages”.
Should Lesley take the time to do a little research she’d find that not only cities but entire countries are already running on renewables, Iceland 100 per cent (geothermal and hydro), Costa Rica 99 per cent and Norway 98 per cent (mostly hydro).
Meanwhile 43 cities worldwide use only renewable energy, with more than 100 (including many in the US, despite Donald Trump) using at least 70 per cent renewables, mainly hydro, geothermal, solar and wind.
Even India with its 1.3 billion population has committed to using 40 per cent renewable energy by 2030.
So thank you Lesley for stirring me to seek enlightenment as I now feel more optimistic about the future, a future that does not include coal!
