The location of the fire is 30 kilometres south of Port Macquarie at Dooragan National Park.
NSW RFS Mid North Coast district officer Stuart Robb said there is no immediate threat to properties but residents in the area of Laurieton may notice some smoke.
Mr Robb said crews are in the process of monitoring and mopping up the area. He said the size of the fire is less than a hectare.
The quick actions of firefighters brought a fire under control on Monday, February 18.
Crews from Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service were called to the bush fire at 2.13pm on Herons Creek Road at Herons Creek.
The NSW RFS is urging residents to be vigilant and ring triple zero immediately if they see a fire without any fire trucks at the location.
Mr Robb said it’s important people have a bush fire survival plan, as it’s predicted there will be more warm days before a cool change later in the week.
