Jody was elected to the role by the Mid North Coast group at the January AGM and said she is looking forward to continuing to ensure a strong future for agricultural shows.
"I’m honoured to be elected and really looking forward to the year of shows and meetings ahead," she said.
The ASC of NSW has been in operation since 1929 and is the parent body of 195 show societies in the state.
The primary role of the ASC NSW is to provide support, service, development and ideas for growth to members. The board is made up of directors from across the state of NSW.
Jody said in her new role as director she will be able to pass on any information from the ASC back to the Mid North Coast group.
An aspect of the show that Jody would like to develop, is to bring new blood into societies.
"On average in NSW we're losing about one show a year," she said.
Jody said a lot of shows are run by ageing volunteers and they need young people to step up into leading roles.
She said the ASC has a group which is open to the younger generation called Next Generation. It is dedicated to facilitating the engagement of youth for the positive progression of shows.
Jody is encouraging young women to be part of the Sydney Royal Showgirl competition.
There has been recent discussion if whether the Showgirl name appropriately represents what the competition is about.
Jody said it's a tradition which has been running for years and is about showcasing informed young women who want to act as ambassadors for rural NSW and country shows.
