Andrew Kalkman said if the taxi rank was moved it would enable motorists to safely view what vehicles are travelling down the road.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is set to make a move to reduce the speed limit on Bold Street, Laurieton once the pedestrian crossing construction is complete.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council director Jeffery Sharp said council is committed to upgrading Bold Street in Laurieton to improve pedestrian safety, connectivity and the overall amenity of the main street.
"A review of parking bays, taxi rank, bus stop and loading zone locations will take place as part of the pedestrian crossing project, with any changes made to consider the overall master plan for Bold Street, between Tunis and Seymour Streets," he said.
Laurieton Taxi Service owner Peter Cristoforo said it’s disappointing the business hasn’t been involved in any consultations with Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, in relation to a potential review of the taxi rank location.
Peter said he is aware of safety concerns raised by residents and is open to discussing the issue with council.
“We could provide so much insight from our drivers and community members, to help come up with a solution which will benefit all those involved,” he said.
Another resident raised the issue of rear to kerb parking along the main street of Laurieton. She believes it would be safer if vehicles could park their car with the front to the curb.
Mr Sharp said council has no plans to change the rear to kerb parking arrangements due to costly works that would be required for kerb extensions and landscaping.
He said there is a need to focus resources on priority safety upgrades for the Laurieton community, such as the Bold Street pedestrian crossing.
