Permanent teaching spaces and upgraded core facilities are set to be part of a planned upgrade at Lake Cathie Public School. The plan for the upgrade is in the design stage, to be approved by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
Mr Garvan said students are very excited in anticipation of construction on the new buildings.
"They have witnessed the fences and signage go up in 2018," he said.
The school and project team held information sessions in October and November last year, to inform the community about the proposed plans for the upgrade.
"Parents and staff have had considerable input into the design process and we are pleased that the school upgrade is at the tender phase.
"These new and upgraded facilities will further enhance the learning opportunities for students now and well into the future."
In the school's newsletter Mr Garvan said significant work is being carried out to ensure student learning has minimal disruptions and safety is successfully planned for.
A spokesperson from NSW Department of Education said the development is taking place to cater for growing student enrolment demand.
Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills areas are anticipated to experience significant population growth in the period to 2036.
