In the estuary, a few reasonable mulloway have been encountered in the lead up to this full moon. Up river, fish to around 6 kilograms have been taken on lures, predominately soft plastics and soft vibes, while live baits and larger soft plastics have seen success around the break walls.

Blackfish have also remained consistent around the walls, with cabbage and bull weed seeing the best results. A few reasonable bream have also been taken from the north wall, however the current full moon may see them a little shy after dark. The bream however are still responding well to surface lures fished around the Rawdon Island area.

Also up river, flathead remain consistent with the Maria fishing well on both lures and whitebait, while Blackmans Point and Limeburners have both produced some terrific whiting on worms, yabbies and surface lures.

Off the beaches, there is still quite a bit of red weed hanging about however there are plenty of reasonably clean patches worth fishing. On a positive note, a few more tailor have begun to show up in line with the increased baitfish presence along our coastline. Locally Lighthouse and Rainbow beaches have been worth a look, as too have all beaches further south.

On the bream and whiting front, the southern end of Lighthouse continues to produce a steady stream of fish, with worms and pipis both working well. On the mulloway scene, results have been somewhat subdued however a few school sized fish have been taken from North Beach and around Lake Cathie.

Off the rocks, tailor numbers are improving for those out at dawn or dusk, whilst night time anglers have been scoring a few reasonable bream. Lighthouse locally has produced good numbers of both species, as too has Point Plomer. A few nice blackfish have also been around Shelley's and Miners.

On the land based game scene, longtail tuna are now around in good numbers however close encounters far outweigh actual fish landed. Best results over the past week have been from around the usual haunts at Hat Head and Point Perpendicular, however Hungry Head and Bonny Hills have both been worth a look.

On the offshore scene, reasonable snapper remain on offer from the closer reefs, with fish to around 4 kilos taking lightly weighted pilchards, live baits and of course soft plastic lures. Up north, Trag Rock has produced a few kingfish, whilst the wider reefs have also given up some nice pearl perch.

On the pelagic front, Barries Bay has held cobia, longtail tuna, spotted and Spanish mackerel, albeit not in the numbers further north. Mahi mahi have also been around in solid numbers, with the FAD worth a look, as to any trap buoys wider than about 40m.
