Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is carrying out the trapping of pests from Monday, March 25 for 10 nights.
The trapping will be targeted in Henry Kendall Reserve and in public bushland, which runs north from the Reflections North Haven Caravan Park.
Council ecologist Rebecca Montague-Drake said the trapping is being undertaken as part of the Estuarine Lakeside Linkages project.
The three year project aimed to reduce weeds and feral pests, such as foxes, and improve the habitat values of important wildlife corridors between the areas that link Dooragan (North Brother) Mountain with the coast.
Dr Montague-Drake said foxes continue to pose a threat to native fauna species and it is difficult to put a number on how many there are in the Camden Haven.
As part of the trapping, all animals will be scanned with a microchip reader.
A spokesperson from council said dogs and cats without a microchip will be assumed to be feral pests and euthanised.
All works are being undertaken by a professional vertebrate pest contractor who adhere to NSW Animal Ethics standards.
Signs will be placed at the major entrance points to the target areas advising of these works and the need to keep pets restrained.
