In 2020, St Benedict's Catholic College will celebrate a decade of providing Catholic education in the Benedictine tradition.
Using a Positive Education framework, the co-educational Catholic High School prides itself on being a school where students, in the words of St Benedict, have "something to strive for, and nothing to run from".
With an expected enrolment of 1020 students in 2020, there is much to celebrate, including:
Creative and Performing Arts Centre. This year, the final stage of the building program saw this modern facility open.
HSC results. The results of the third HSC cohort were outstanding, with more than seven per cent of students gaining a Band 6 in one or more subjects.
The first groups of students have been on the Premier's Merit List, many were on the Distinguished Achievers lists across a range of subjects and student's projects were chosen for the Shape (TAS) Showcase.
Last year, more than 80 per cent of students landed in Bands 4-6: the best performance among the systemic Catholic schools and among the best performing schools in any sector locally.
Positive Education Schools Network. The College has joined the Positive Education Schools Network and is beginning a journey with parents, staff and students, looking at a strengths-based philosophy of education over the next few years.
Leadership Diploma. The unique Leadership Diploma is offered in Years 9-11 and involves students participating in a ROSA accredited program which encourages students to participate in the total life of the school: in co-curricular activities, social action activities, and participate in the Outdoor Education Program in a wilderness setting.
Enrolments are now open for Year 7, 2020. Applications are available from the College office at 70-86 Oran Park Drive, Oran Park, during office hours (7:45am to 3:30pm), or can be downloaded from www.sbccdow.catholic.edu.au. Applications close Friday, April 12. No application fee applies.
