On April 3, more than 40 women gathered in the community hall at Bonny Hills to learn about Papua New Guinea and eat locally inspired food.
Papua New Guinea is the country of study for the CWA in 2019 and as a result the local branch decided to have a delicious lunch in honour of the country.
Fran Adams, international officer for the Bonny Hills branch of the CWA said it was a great day of celebration.
"Each year we look at a different country and this year we are doing Papua New Guinea which has been very exciting," Ms Adams said.
"We have had a lovely lunch with a Papua New Guinean theme and invited students from North Haven Public School to talk to us about different aspects of Papua new Guinea.
"The students also made posters about Papua New Guinea which we judged and awarded prizes for. We are so thankful that they came and got behind our country of study.
"Part of why we have a country of study is so that we can learn about the world we live in and all the different cultures and customs of different countries.
"Last year we did Poland and I think we have all been keen to learn more about Papua New Guinea."
Ms Adams also said that it was a fundraising event to help women in need.
"All the money from today's lunch will go towards helping women and children in Papua New Guinea which is something we are really passionate about.
"Today we have had ladies come from all over to celebrate with us and we have enjoyed fantastic food, some games and the children's talks."
