The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie's Giant Book Sale runs from Friday, April 5 to Sunday, April 7 at Panthers Port Macquarie.
Just over 30,000 books will be on offer with genres ranging from novels to biography, Australiana, self-help, true crime, children's books and cookbooks.
Novels will be arranged in alphabetical order by author, while vinyl records, CDs and DVDs will also be for sale.
Giant Book Sale coordinator Bob Cleland said the 2019 book sale was shaping up to be terrific due to a big increase in donated books thanks to media publicity.
Mr Cleland said people in Port Macquarie were always downsizing so they needed to move books off their shelves.
"There is a trend for people to declutter, and as a result, we have been given some treasured books," he said.
This year marks the 20th Giant Book Sale.
"People do love books and people still enjoy reading the hard copy," Mr Cleland said.
The book sale runs from 9am to 6pm on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6, and 9am to 1pm on Sunday, April 7.
Students dressed in their school uniforms will receive a "buy one book get one free deal", of equal or lesser value, from 3pm to 6pm on Friday, April 5.
Students enthusiastically bought books after school during the 2018 event.
Mr Cleland said Rotarians believed literacy was important.
"If we can encourage children to read, this is a great way of doing it," he said.
Antiquarian and old books will be individually priced but there will be no other books over $4.
Meanwhile, people can fill a plastic bag with books for $5 or a green bag full of books for $10 on Sunday, April 7.
The Giant Book Sale is a fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie.
