Stage one works are well underway with the first part of the terminal building expansion expected for completion mid-year. The overall project, funded by three tiers of government, is on track for delivery before Christmas 2019.
The external cladding and glazing in the stage one works are 80 per cent complete. The bathrooms have been sheeted, waterproofed and tiled, and work has started on the wall and ceiling linings.
The terminal's new power supply works are 80 per cent complete.External paths are being prepared and soft landscaping will be completed once the concrete works are done.
The almost $10 million project started last October and will double the size of the airport terminal building.
Passengers can look forward to an expanded check-in area, bigger departures and arrivals area, expanded security screening areas and a baggage carousel.
It will be so much easier to pick up luggage from the carousel.

The new-look terminal building will have air conditioning throughout and visitors will be able to connect their devices to Wi-Fi. Perth resident Monica Casey believes the airport terminal needs the upgrade.
"People in general will be able to connect quicker [with Wi-Fi] and it will be so much easier to pick up luggage from the carousel," she said.
The $9.875 million airport terminal building upgrade is funded through a $5 million state government contribution, $1.25 million from the federal government and up to $3.625 million from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
