Port Saints have raced to a triumphant win against their Camden Haven opponents, despite a last minute penalty shot for the Redbacks.

The Saints fought through the hotly-anticipated rematch with a 2-1 victory against the Redbacks at Findlay Park in Port Macquarie on Saturday, May 11.

The win continues an unbroken run for the Saints who have collected two draws and ongoing wins in the Football Mid North Coast Premier League for 2019.

Although the side still occupy the second rung of the ladder underneath Port United.

Port Saints coach Darrell Pascoe said the penalty had added extra pressure to an already difficult match.

"Tough game, really tough game from start to finish," he said after the match.

"It was action packed, they never gave up and we never gave up.

"When they got that penalty with 15 minutes to go, it put them right back in the match and we were under a bit of pressure.

"And the lads lifted, they stayed composed, they went about their business playing some really good football."

"That's what we are working towards, I'm pretty pleased.

"When you get a penalty like that with only minutes to go and there's a goal in it, it brings them back in and they lift.

"As you'd expect us to do aswell and you need your guys to go with them otherwise you get run down, the pleasing thing for me was that I thought we did lift.

"To come away with a two-one victory, we had to lift and I think that shows character in the team."

Mr Pascoe said players had contributed in some great team efforts.

"I thought our combination play was awesome, I thought we created a lot of chances," he said.

"Probably had the same number of shots as the last few weeks, it's just all about putting them in the net."

The 2-1 loss adds to Camden Haven's previous games with a convincing 3-1 win, a narrow 2-1 loss and an entertaining 4-3 victory.

"They're a good team, they're quality side," said Pascoe.

"The boys were saying there was a bit of moisture and the pitch was pretty slippery, probably made it pretty hard for both teams at times.

"To get a good touch and get the ball away, I think there was a few missed passes, but that was the same for them aswell as us."

The Port Saints reserves defeated Redbacks 1-0.
