On Monday, May 13 members of the North Haven Bowling Club formed a Guard of Honour for Marjorie, who had been part of the bowling club since the 1970s.
One of Marjorie's best friends Carole Graham described her as having 'the best sense of humour' and a person who would always joke around.
"You always knew you could have a laugh with her," Carole said.
Marjorie talked Carole into joining the bowling club 30 years ago.
"She was a natural mentor and really good with new people," Carole said.
Marjorie was a former president of the North Haven Bowling Club and also became a life member because of her tireless dedication to its operation.
Marjorie's daughter Catherine gave the eulogy at the service on May 13. She said her mother took it as an honour to hold any position and maintained forever the 'give back' mentality.
Marjorie was born on August 27, 1933 at Crown St Women's Hospital in Sydney.
Marjorie and her sister were raised by their single mother.
"Marjorie grew up seeing her mother's endurance and strength. She would draw on those traits when needed in her own life," Catherine said in the eulogy.
Marjorie met her true love Robert at a New Year's Eve party at the Tradesmen's Arms Hotel in Sydney during 1955.
"Marj's escort for the evening was too loud, inebriated and she was not interested in him anyway.," Catherine said.
"Bob quickly sat by her side and then never left it for the next 65 years."
They began their lives in Hobart, Tasmania where their eldest daughter, Debra, was born in 1957.
The family eventually returned to the mainland where Bob found work at the Alcan Foil Factory and they moved into a modest home in Blacktown.
More daughters arrived with Karen in 1960, Catherine in 1961 and Robyn in 1963 to complete the family.
In 1978 the family moved to North Haven, where Marjorie became heavily involved with the North Haven Bowling Club.
Catherine said her mother's friendships with Carole Graham and Pauline O'Shea gathered their antics over the years like a running sit-com.
"These memories would plaster the smile on Marj's face whenever she spoke of them,"she said.
"Marj's friendships with the bowls ladies literally sustained her and gave her the breath of life that her body struggled with daily in her last years.
"Marj was kind, Marj was tough and Marj loved us all."
