The RFS NSW were called to help contain a fire burning at Diamond Head Road, Diamond Head at 1.30pm on Tuesday, May 21.
Mr Ryan said the crew was alerted to the fire by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
The crew have also been alerted to a second fire, which Mr Ryan also believes was deliberately lit.
Mr Ryan labelled the actions of the people who lit the fires as 'incredibly disappointing'.
"Our firefighters have to leave work, their homes and families to attend these fires," he said.
Mr Ryan said he expected the fires would be under control by this evening.
He said there are no reports of injuries and no properties are under threat.
The fires will be investigated by the police.
Meanwhile Forestry Corporation of NSW are conducting hazard reduction burns in areas including Middle Brother, Lansdowne and Herons Creek this week.
