The West Haven resident is undergoing intensive chemotherapy treatment while the cancer is taking its toll on her mental and physical wellbeing.
The Camden Haven community will rally behind Yasmin, her two sons and husband with a fundraising event called Battle of the Seas on Sunday, June 23 at Club North Haven from 11am.
The event has been organised by the Camden Haven Surf Life Saving Club and the Laurieton Hotel Fishing Club.
In 2018 Yasmin went to her doctor, after suffering what she initially believed to be a muscular problem in her back.
She asked her doctor if she could undergo an ultrasound to rule out any issues associated with her gallbladder, due to family history.
After the scan Yasmin got a phone call at her work asking her to come back to the medical centre.
"It's never a good thing when they call your work in the middle of the day," she said.
Yasmin was told the scan had shown up with an abnormality and a CAT scan confirmed she had bowel cancer, which had spread to the liver.
Yasmin is now undergoing intense fortnightly chemotherapy treatment which lasts for three days.
The side effects are horrific and Yasmin said she doesn't leave the house for long periods of time.
Yasmin was diagnosed near Christmas time in 2018. She said her whole family was around to offer her support.
The cancer is taking its financial toll on the family because Yasmin can no longer work due to the side effects from the treatment.
Yasmin's message to people is don't put off going to the doctor if there's anything that doesn't feel right.
"It doesn't matter what age you are," she said.
"The sooner you get checked out the better."
Yasmin said people don't realise how important health is, until they no longer have it.
Registration for the Battle of the Seas event starts at 11am on Sunday, June 23. People can register as an individual for $10 or a team of six players for $40.
The bowling starts from 12pm until 3pm. There will be a raffle, a sausage sizzle and lucky door prize. The prizes have been donated by local businesses.
In 2018 the Camden Haven community helped raise over $3000 to help local Sam Goryan and her family at the Battle of the Seas event.
