The Kendall Blues women took on the South West Rocks Marlins. At the break it was the Marlinettes in front, with a 14 to 12 score. Blues players Mahala Hopwood, Dayna Gibson and Brearna Hoole scored. Breama kicked two goals. The Blues started the second half the better, with a try to the fullback Amanda Hansen and they took the lead 16 to 14. The final score went in favour of the Marlins, 18 to 16. Players Player was awarded to Steph Swan.
Kendall Blues men then took to the field. They had one on the bench to start and knew it was set to be a tough game.
Blues Riley Opdam crossed the line three minutes into the game, Alex Pearce then converted. Tamati Wigman was next to cross, followed by Matt Hensley. Alex kicked the goal and the Blues lead 16 nil. The Magpies grabbed a try and the Blues led 16 to 4 at the break.
The Magpies scored again one minute into the second half, closing the gap 16 to 10. The Blues put it together and scored three in a row thanks to Jack Chapman, Tamati Wigman and Brad Smith. Tamati Wigman kicked a goal to bring the Blues back in control 32 to 10. The Magpies crossed again. However the Blues then notched up another four tries by Eddie Eggins, Tamati Wigman, Matt Hensley and Brad Smith. The final score had the Blues as convincing winners, 50 to 14.
Players Player and Man of the Match was forward Eddie Eggins, who is having a blinder of a first season with the Blues.
Captain/Coach James Kennedy was extremely proud of how the Blues dug deep and played with commitment, heart and grit.
On Saturday, June 29 is the Kendall Blues Annual Charity Day to celebrate the life of one the Blues, Andy Howe who was taken far too young.
The Charity Day kicks off at 8.30am, showcasing the exceptional talents of rugby league juniors.
The Kendall Blues ladies will take to the field against Beechwood Shamrocks Ladies.
First game for the men is the Laurieton Stingrays against the Comboyne Tigers.
Final game for the day is at 3pm. The Kendall Blues will challenge the 2018 Premiers Long Flat Dragons.
