The theme for this year is 'Your Council', highlighting that your council delivers much more than just roads, rates and rubbish.
Last year we celebrated Local Government Week with tours of our facilities, and the demand was so high, we thought we'd do it all again this year.
Prior to becoming mayor, I had a broad understanding of the responsibility of council.
But I can tell you there are things you just would not believe council must maintain and look after on behalf of our community.
I've been on one of these tours myself, and it is truly amazing just how diverse, talented and enthusiastic your council staff are.
We have people employed as scientists, construction engineers, builders, labourers, electricians, ecologists, town planners, excavator drivers and communications experts, to name just a few.
All of them are working to make our region a great place to live, work, play and invest.
So if you are interested in learning more about the tasks our council rangers perform, or want to see recycling in action, or if would like to hear from a project engineer on just how a seawall is built, for example, then book your spot on one of our tours today.
The tours are free, but places are limited so you must get in early or you will miss out.
I encourage everyone to come along if you can, you might be surprised.
Who knows, you might just be inspired to become an elected councillor in the future, or even apply for one of the varied positions one day.
