Voting online through the NSW Government's My Community Project program opened on July 15.

Residents can cast an online vote for between three and five of 22 nominated projects.

Local projects on the list include an upgrade at the Laurieton Tennis Court, an upgrade at Kendall Tennis Club, a horse riding facility in Hannam Vale, a mobile first aid station for the Laurieton markets, an upgrade to Herons Creek cycle tracks and equipment to help address the ailing waterways of Lake Cathie.

Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams described the program as "innovative" and "exciting".

"The program is putting decision-making back in the hands of community members to weigh in on their top picks for projects in the region," Mrs Williams said.

"It's very easy to vote - all you need is your Medicare card and a free MyServiceNSW account, which also provides quick access to a wide range of NSW Government services such as the CTP Green Slip refund for eligible policyholders."

On the list of potential recipients is Revive Lake Cathie's project 'Epic Quest to Revive Lake Cathie'.

Revive Lake Cathie is hoping to receive $25,000 in funding to install water testing, water height monitoring equipment and sediment analysis tools.

Revive Lake Cathie vice president Dee Crisp said she believed the plight of the lake and community would be well supported by voters.

The group's communications manager Lisa Willows said Lake Cathie was once called 'The Jewel of the Hastings'.

"We know our town has been identified as a place of good value to the people of Port Macquarie and surrounding areas," she said.

Residents in the Port Macquarie electorate can view eligible projects and vote online here or by visiting their Service NSW Centre.

Voting concludes on August 15 with successful projects to be announced from September 2019.
