NAIDOC Week celebrations are on around the country each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Moorland Public School hosted three other schools for a NAIDOC Day event on Wednesday, July 24.
The day consisted of rotational activities including spear throwing, food tasting and Indigenous art.
Stephanie Maguire is an Aboriginal woman who is helping to paint a mural at Moorland Public School.
She gained assistance from a few keen students on Wednesday, July 24.
Students said they looked forward to tasting kangaroo sausages and lemon myrtle fish at lunchtime.
Laurieton Public School celebrated NAIDOC Day last term, where students participated in a colouring-in competition, cooking and artwork.
The 2019 theme for NAIDOC Week is Voice, Treaty, Truth.
The theme encompasses working together for a shared future and highlights the desire of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to be involved in discussions of Constitutional reform and treaties.
