The Camden Haven Community College and Camden Haven Girl Guides both received $500 through the Australia Post Workforce Grants.
The groups were nominated by local staff from Australia Post.
Megan McQuillan from the Camden Haven Community College said the funding would go towards purchasing gardening materials.
The equipment will be used to develop and maintain the community garden at Apex Park, Laurieton.
Megan said the garden is run by a group of dedicated volunteers, who work hard to ensure the garden flourishes.
Camden Haven Girl Guides district manager Kim Woodhouse said the $500 would go towards an excursion for the group called the The Great Guide Sleepover on August 24.
Kim said the girls are very excited about the trip, which includes a visit to the Taronga Zoo and a sleepover on site.
Kim said the members have also been fundraising to help support the Taronga Conservation Society.
This year the gorilla was selected as the focus for all donations.
Members have been fundraising at local markets to help raise money for the cause.
