The upgrade has been allocated $560,000 in the 2019/2020 Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Operational Plan.
The plan was adopted by council at its June meeting.
According the council minutes, the development of the master plan was based on targeted stakeholder/user group engagement and was not be placed on formal public exhibition.
A council spokesperson said the project was prioritised by sporting user groups and will require additional funding through grants, donated services and materials.
The spokesperson said the project scope would include an upgrade to the main amenities, as per the master plan.
Camden Haven Redbacks president Tamara Burns said she was happy the upgrade would address drainage issues at the field and provide two quality fields for the football club.
She said the club's membership numbers have held steady over the past few years, sitting at around 300.
However Tamara has voiced her concerns over possible loss of playing space for their junior members.
"We are hopeful though that we'll be able to address this issue through further discussions and consultation," she said.
According to the Laurieton Oval master plan issues including the drought's impact on fields, poor condition of the fences, minimal parking, a lack of shade and seating will be addressed in the upgrade.
The council spokesperson said it is not known when the upgrade will get underway. He said the project will require additional funding through grants, donated services and materials.
