The Kendall School of Arts will host the Kendall National Violin Competition's Festival Academy over the weekend of September 14 and 15.
The program will feature talented young musicians, under the leadership of Kendall National Violin Competition's artistic director Goetz Richter.
The musical performance will highlight the work of composer Iris de Cairos-Rego, presented by pianist Jeanell Carrigan.
On Saturday, September 14 young violinists will be in recital from 10.30am. After lunch at 1.30pm the audience will get an opportunity to look behind the scenes of creating artistic interpretations in an open masterclass with Goetz Richter.
The day will conclude at 3pm with afternoon tea and a talk to celebrate the life of composer Iris de Cairos-Rego. It will be presented by Jeanell Carrigan and Kendall Festival Academy musicians.
There will be a concert at 2pm on Sunday, September 15 where the Kendall Festival Academy musicians will perform The Best of British proms concert.
On Monday, September 16 musicians will visit schools in Kendall and Herons Creek, where they will present a program around a story.
This opportunity for children to experience live music is made possible through the generous support of the Kendall Community Op Shop.
The Kendall National Violin Competition will be on every second year from 2020, introducing both junior and senior categories with substantial financial prizes for all finalists.
Mr Richter said he is excited about the festival weekend.
"As the Kendall National Violin Competition expands and develops its vision with a transition to a biennial competition in 2020, we are really looking forward to be able to present some very gifted young violinists and a thoroughly entertaining program of delightful music to Kendall audiences," he said.
Tickets for the weekend are $20 (half day Saturday), $40 (full day Saturday) and $40 for the Sunday proms concert - The Best of British.
