According to Lifeline statistics, suicide remains the leading cause of death for Australians aged between 15 and 44.
The data also shows deaths by suicide in Australia occur among males at a rate three times greater than that for females.
Mr Globits decided to establish a local group in the community called The Man Walk to support men.
A number of groups have been set up across Australia, after the initiative kicked off in Kiama.
The North Haven group meets each week on Thursday at the North Haven Boat Ramp from 7am. They walk along the breakwall to North Haven and return to have a coffee.
Member Gary McLoughlin said a lot of men often aren't comfortable talking about their issues but the group offers a supportive environment.
Mr Globits said there would soon be another walk on Mondays from 5pm at the same location.
The group offers people to the area an opportunity to connect with others.

New members are welcome to attend the walk on Thursday. Call Shane Globits on 0423 891 075 for further details.
