Being a fairly new community member I attended the Beach to Beach pathway public meeting at the Laurieton United Services Club on Wednesday, September 11. I was surprised at the large amount of people in attendance.

I moved to Laurieton to take advantage of the community facilities in my retirement and in particular the waterways and walking paths. Judging from the current development in the area, many others are following.
I can't understand how council has approved so much development in the Dunbogan area without having a plan in place to provide safe vehicle and pedestrian access to the area.
The Boulevarde is the only access road to the area, it is narrow with no shoulders, blind corners due to vegetation and no pedestrian path. It is not the community's responsibility to fund these improvements via to the Beach to Beach pathway project. The issue of safety along this section of road was raised a number of times at the meeting and I support Mayor Peta Pinson in raising this issue with council.
A plan to provide future funding should be implemented to provide for this work.
Road safety is as critical as water supply and sewer. It should be provided for as part of future development levies.
