Both men are making their families proud through following in the footsteps of their ancestors.
Matt was crowned the 090 Australian Post Ripping champion after a competition in Maidenwell, Queensland over the weekend October 5-6.
Matt's wife Jodie is also a champion in the sport. The couple competed together to defend their Queensland Jack and Jill title from 2018.
They also hold the Australian Jack and Jill title.
Matt is a third generation logger and he is hoping to claim the overall champion title at the Camden Haven Show.
However he'll be up against some tough competition, with some of Australia's top competitors expected to travel interstate for the show.
Matt said it takes a long while to learn how to read the timber and to figure out how it's going to come apart.
Beau Kettle was captain/coach of the Kendall Blues Hastings League team in 2017/2018 but had to step down from the sport due to a knee injury.
He hadn't picked up an axe for competition since he was 13-years-old but decided to give it another shot as a sport.
Beau is a fourth generation woodchopper. His father Brett is a former national and world champion in the sport.
With his dad as his coach, Beau said he's receiving the best advice for how to progress in technique and skill.
"It's all about the training and timing. It's definitely not just about hacking into a piece of wood."
Beau said it's important for the axe to be extremely sharp, so that it would "shave the hairs on your arm".
Brett said he's proud of his son for taking up the sport and he's been listening to his advice.
The Camden Haven Show is set to host about 35 woodchoppers in the competition.
