New South Wales customers Margaret, 69, from Kurri Kurri, and Barbara, 72, from Smithtown have both recently made the switch to Pennytel from other mobile service providers.
Motivated by a desire for greater value for money and exceptional customer service, the ladies decided to give Pennytel a go. Both are now in the process of signing their husbands up for a Pennytel plan. This is why.
Pennytel believe strongly in good old fashioned customer service. What kind of changes have you noticed in customer service over the years?
Margaret: I guess with a lot of companies it's the fact that you've got to select from a menu and then you've got to hold. Companies like Pennytel you wait very little time on the phone, they've been very good the couple of times I've had to ring. And of course the hours are really good that they have someone available to talk to you.
What does good customer service mean to you?
Margaret: It's very high on the list. I would rather go somewhere and pay a little bit more money and get good customer service than save a couple of dollars.
Do you believe that Pennytel deliver this for you?
Barbara: You're speaking to someone from Pennytel when you need to, and you can understand them, and there's no problems getting onto support either.
What was the most memorable part of your dealings with Pennytel?
Barbara: From signing up until now, it was really good because I get unlimited talk and text. With Pennytel I can contact landline numbers whereas before I couldn't do that.
Margaret: I guess the fact that when I ordered my sim card, I did it online and it didn't come, so I rang up and the young fella that I spoke to was lovely, no issues; "I'll send out another one and if you haven't got it by the end of the week my name is..." Yeah so it was just that customer service.
Why would you recommend Pennytel to others?
Barbara: Because they're super fantastic. The other thing too is when you speak to someone from Pennytel, they're kind, they treat you like a person, and you're not a problem to them. They're just really good. They've got respect for their customers.
Margaret: Well I think it's an affordable service for all walks of life, like from the very basic to people who want to use a real lot of data and call overseas. So I think it's very versatile.
What was the reason you chose Pennytel as your mobile provider?
Margaret: I'd seen this ad in the paper and the prices were good so I got online, did a bit of comparison shopping. I thought well they're as good if not better than anybody else around, and all the reviews were pretty promising - no contract - so I thought I'd give them a try. We've just been all over inland NSW and I had reception all the way, no issues, so I am pleased.
Barbara: I took the chance and I'm really, really glad that I did. The (provider) I was with I was paying the same as Pennytel but I was only getting 100 free minutes talk time. With Pennytel I get unlimited talk and text, I get 1GB of data, so really that was great for me.
What are the most important factors when you choose a phone provider?
Barbara: Cost. The provider I was with before I was paying $10 a month for that but I didn't get any extras like text. With Pennytel it's $10.99 a month but I get a lot, lot more. They suit me better than the other provider. They are really good to deal with.
