Foregoing their usual christmas present swap members of the society instead decided to donate the money they would have spent on each other to help local farmers in need.

Monica Foster said the idea was sparked after hearing how the local community was coming together to help with local drought relief efforts.

"A few members of our group heard about the Club North Haven appeal to donate water to local dairy farmers and we wanted to find a way to help as well," Ms Foster said.

"It is horrible to know that there are farmers suffering right on our doorstep and we would not even know.

"We are a small club but we are proud to have donated nearly $300 to help with the ongoing efforts."

The Scarlett women of Camden Haven Red Hat Society are a local group of ladies who look out for each other and help out the community when they can.
