When the going gets tough members from the CWA and Show Societies come together and help the community.
With many roads closed due to the recent bushfires, an already planned show society and CWA regional training event on November 9 looked like it would be cancelled.
CWA and Show Society member Elizabeth Watson said lots of members could not get through but organisers were at a loss about what to do with all the food they had ordered especially for the training event.
"It was a bit hard because we had all this food ready for the training event and we didn't want it to go to waste," Mrs Watson said.
"Those who had already arrived in town plus a few locals from Kendall decided to make the food up into packs to give to the firefighters on the frontline."
Mrs watson said it was wonderful to see the community coming together.
"We didn't even have to ask everyone was so keen to get in and help which was lovely," she said.
"Everyone just came together and helped and before we knew it we had made up all these parcels of food.
"Unfortunately at the time the fire stations weren't accepting food so we took it all to the Taree Showground and the people evacuated there were very grateful."
