Officers carried out patrols from Friday, December 6 until Sunday, December 8 at Port Macquarie, Laurieton and South West Rocks.
Operation Riptide is a highly-visible and mobile policing strategy targeting vessels and personal watercraft (PWC) compliance and safety across waterways state-wide throughout summer.
In total, 61 vessels and 12 personal watercraft were stopped for compliance checks as well as random breath and drug tests.
The Marine Area Command's Detective Acting Inspector Christine McDonald said it's the first time Operation Riptide has been undertaken on the Mid North Coast, but it won't be the last.
"This weekend's operation was a great success, engaging with the public and informing them on how to best keep themselves and others around them safe during the summer months," she said.
"While we were pleased to see the majority of operators and riders behaving safely, there are those who continue to misbehave and put others at risk.
"Dangerous behaviours such as riding above the speed limit, or riding too close to swimmers in the water can incur fines.
"Police will be actively monitoring this kind of behaviour during the festive season and into 2020."
