Almost 30 volunteers attended the luncheon at Camden Haven Community Health Centre, with each member bringing a favourite dish to share with fellow volunteers.
The get-together celebrated the many friendships formed between the volunteers, but also celebrated a successful year for the branch, which included the presentation of a $3000 Doppler and $1000 worth of height-adjustable chairs to the Camden Haven Community Health Centre in Laurie Street, Laurieton.
The Doppler, donated in partnership with the LUSC Friendship Quilters, was an important addition to the community health centre's wound clinic.
The portable ultrasound machine can assess the amount of blood flow through arteries to a patient's arms or legs, assisting nurses to treat patients who have long-term wounds or ulcers.
The height-adjustable chairs mean older patients, or patients with mobility issues, find it easier to get up and out of the chairs in the community health centre's waiting room.
President Jen Lucey thanked the branch's volunteers for their hard work during the past year and for their friendship and support.
She also said she was looking forward to the volunteers being able to provide even more support to the health centre's patients and clients in 2020.
The Mid North Coast Local Health District's Corporate Relations Manager, Sharon Fuller, was also present.
Thanking the branch for its tireless efforts, not only during 2019 but for the past 43 years, Ms Fuller said every nurse, doctor, allied health worker and administration person owed a debt of gratitude to the volunteers for their support.
"Each and every volunteer makes such a difference to our patients and clients. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts," Mrs Fuller said.
The Camden Haven UHA branch will take a break over the Christmas-New Year period and resume their monthly get-togethers, where they sew, knit and create handmade goods for their fundraising efforts, in February.
