The December 25 weather forecast for the Hastings is a good one with mild temperatures and an 80 per cent chance of showers.
The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted a Christmas day top of 26 degrees after a mild 18 overnight.
There are likely to be showers in the morning and afternoon along with the chance of a thunderstorm.
Light winds becoming north-easterly between 20 to 25 km/h will pick up in the middle of the day then become light in the late evening.
Showers will continue into Thursday before warming up through to the weekend when the temperature is predicted to top 31 degrees again by Monday, December 30.
It will be an opportunity for fire crews across the Hastings to get ahead and prepare the region for a hot January.
"There will be warmer weather towards the end of the week. Firefighters are taking the opportunity to bring fires under control locally here in the Hastings.
"We are not expecting any issues from the fires that are currently on our books," Rural Fire Service Mid Coast District public liaison officer Stuart Robb said.
