Customers at the bank have recently received a letter from the senior manager of branch operations Kim Burraston, to inform them of the changes.
As of February 3 the bank will open to customers from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Thursday and 9am to 5pm on Fridays.
The change, Mr Burraston outlines in the letter, is due to an observed trend where people are choosing to bank online, rather than at the branch. He said many are no longer visiting the branch at all.
The bank's chief executive officer Kevin Dupe said their members are driving the changes to trading hours in the branch network, including Laurieton.
Resident Brad Mildern has written to the bank and said as Laurieton has an older demographic, people rely on face-to-face contact with staff members at the bank.
He said many customers based in the town are computer illiterate and have no access to internet banking.
People, Mr Mildern said can also have mobility issues and rely on public transport or another means for transport.
"Their hours of availability may be restricted, so the bank's changes will impact their ability to access counter service," he said.
Mr Mildern said the bank will lose customers as a result of the new trading hours, and will be forced to close completely.
"The bank will embrace the modern banking ethos by closing the branch to save costs and go entirely towards internet banking for our local aged population," he said.
However, Mr Dupe said a reduction in trade hours isn't a sign of anything ominous in relation to possible closures.
He said the bank remains committed to keeping regional branches open to customers and maintaining local staff in jobs.
Branch trading hours have not changed in Port Macquarie or Wauchope.
Staff and the support centre will remain available to assist customers outside of the branch's opening hours.
