I feel I must comment on the road works currently being undertaken at the Lake Road and Seymour Street intersection, Laurieton.

To my layperson's eye, the works seem to be an unnecessary waste of money.
The traffic flowed smoothly in the area previously and now the left hand turns are impeded by the design of the road.
Granted, the footpath is an improvement.
Perhaps the money could have been better spent on the Beach to Beach pathway or the long awaited Bold Street pedestrian crossing.
