Walk programs are now available at the Laurieton library, the Camden Haven Neighbourhood Centre (58 Bold St. Laurieton), the iKew centre at Kew, and the Laurieton Men's Shed.
The Walking for Pleasure group meets every Wednesday, and walks alternate between a morning only walk and a walk returning in the afternoon.
The group meets at the Camden Haven Health Centre (corner Laurie and Norman Streets, Laurieton) at 8.45 am, or occasionally earlier if the scheduled walk involves significant travel time.
The walk on Wednesday, February 26 is a local morning only 6 km stroll along Lakewood Boardwalk. If you'd like to learn more about the group put on your walking shoes and sunhat, grab a drink bottle and snack and come and join us. Something waterproof to sit on can also be handy.
The Walking for Pleasure group is run by the Office of Sport, and registration is free. Some car transport is usually required, however, and car pooling is encouraged with those travelling in another person's car contributing to the cost.
The walk program caters for adults of different fitness levels, so walkers can choose the walks that suit them.
We have a number of local walks, but also travel as far as Forster, Hat Head and into the hinterland. Some of our walks might have to be altered due to the danger of falling trees, but the fires should now be out, and hopefully regeneration is well underway.
Most of our walks involve some uneven / rocky / sloping ground. Walkers who require a solid level surface can contact Reg on 0400 143 182 (see Heart Health NSW under Life Community Notices).
