There is a call out for more Savvy Singers in Port Macquarie.

Savvy Singers are a singing group who undertake simple cognitive therapy exercises designed to prevent memory loss.

"Most people do crosswords or Sudoku which are great but our activities engage the whole body and brain but in a sensible moderate way," choir leader Robyn Ryan said.

"A couple of members are recovering from strokes and have indicated great improvement from our activities "

Mrs Ryan said all activities are "simple" and can be done fully or partially.

"Nothing is mandatory we encourage people to do what they can," she said.

"As all movement is helpful - especially with seniors- if you cannot stand for the whole hour then sit."

The group meet each Monday at noon for one hour at Teneson ( ?) Woods Centre in St Agnes Village.

For information about the group call Robyn 0407 007993.
