The closure will not impact the current police presence in the Camden Haven but it will mean residents will not be able to front up at the station said police sergeant Mick Walker.
"The upgrades were announced in 2018 and we are excited they are now happening," sgt Walker said.
"For approximately the next three months the renovations will be happening but it will not change how we do our jobs.
"Rather than coming to the station we are asking people to call the Port Macquarie Police Station directly but it will be one of the Laurieton officers who responds either on the ground or will call you back."
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams and then-minister for police and emergency services Troy Grant announced funding for a $1.5 million upgrade on Friday, July 6, 2018.
At the time of the announcement Mr Grant said the enhancement and expansion to the station would cater for the increased population expected in the Camden Haven in the future.
"To allow the police to be better housed, more effectively and efficiently and to be able to deploy from this area the service the growing population demands and crime needs of the Camden Haven."
Sgt Walker said the renovations would include upgrades to all equipment and a larger charge room.
"The upgrades will also allow for more officers to be stationed in Laurieton in the future."
At the time Mrs Williams said the Laurieton Police Station might be small, but it's an important part of the close-knit community.
"The redevelopment will transform the existing station into a modern facility that will serve the local police now and into the future," Mrs Williams said.
"Our local men and women in blue deserve the very best resources and equipment to do their job and keep the community safe."
