Redbacks captain Riley Papas didn't feel the scoreline was a true reflection of the game despite his side heading to the break trailing 3-0.
"We probably made four individual errors (in the game) and if we don't make those errors they don't score, but we did and they capitalised," Papas said.
The Redbacks dominated the first 15 minutes of the contest despite running into a strong breeze.
"We had two or three chances where if we were a bit crisper and a bit sharper we would have put them away," he said.
"I don't think the score was a true reflection of the game."
Papas felt his side "knocked the ball around well" and were well positioned to have a strong Zone Premier League season when the competition kicks off on March 28.
"We dug our heels in and stood firm defensively which sounds funny when you look at the score, but our mistakes led to goals and you've got to wear that," he said.
"It felt like a game of missed opportunities, but at the end of the day it's our first time ever in the competition.
"We know we gave a team who is very strong a very good run so there are a lot of positives to take out of it."
Central defender Ethan Alchin was awarded the club's man of the match honours for his efforts in defence.
"He's only an 18-year-old and he stepped up, led with constant chatter and didn't get beaten too many times."
Meanwhile, Port United progressed to the fifth round of the tournament with a comprehensive 4-1 defeat of Oxley Vale Attunga in Tamworth.
Port Saints were knocked out of the competition in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Boambee.
