Up to 50 people will be able to dine in from next month as the NSW government eases more COVID-19 restrictions.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Friday (May 22) announced the "big and critical" step for the state, but said very strict rules would be in place for venues.

Venues will still have to allow at least four square metres of space per person.

Additionally, bookings of more than 10 people will be banned, and patrons won't be allowed to stand.

Currently, dining venues can only have a maximum of 10 patrons if they maintain social distancing. That includes alcohol table service with meals at NSW pubs and clubs.

Laurieton United Services Club has raised a toast to their customers and have implemented innovative ideas to stay in the game while business has been limited by restrictions.

The club is now offering its patrons a much-missed schooner of their favourite ale with their meal at their pop-up deck coffee shop.

"We are extremely grateful to the state and federal government for their support during the pandemic to reduce the strain this has had on many businesses alike; with the easing of these restrictions and the support of the Job Keeper allowance we have been able to stay engaged with our community as well as our staff," LUSC and Kew Country Club secretary manager Rob Dwyer said.

"Our customers are enjoying the opportunity to step out and visit their club, offering a safe environment, interaction with our friendly staff and some much needed social inclusion.

"Our staff have also been fantastic during these difficult times, taking continuous changes and adjustments in their stride and welcoming the opportunity to return to work, albeit taking on duties outside their daily scope of responsibilities.

"We are now looking forward to the further easing of restrictions in the not too distant future and the opportunity to welcome more and more of our community back into their Club."

Business NSW Regional Manager, Kellon Beard welcomed NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian's announcement today, May 22 that pubs, clubs and restaurants would be able to serve up to 50 people for seated dining from June 1.

It follows news the Mid North Coast saw more job losses than any other region in Australia in the month following the COVID-19 outbreak.

"I think it's a great move by the State government," he said.

"It'll give restaurants an opportunity to make some money."

However, he still believed regional NSW shouldn't be subjected to the same restrictions as Sydney, given the significantly lower case numbers.

Regardless of the government's decision, Mr Beard believed the economic needs of the Mid North Coast needed to be prioritised to ensure the region didn't get left behind.

"No matter how quickly we lift travel restrictions or how long support measures last, the whole of the Mid North Coast needs a concerted effort to create an environment in which businesses can grow, employ people and ensure our youth have job opportunities in the future," he said.

"Each level of government has a role to play, working with the business community to tackle our unemployment problem."
