The cricket pitch has now got new nets, extended run-ups and new turf, which is still being established.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council also upgraded and replaced the lighting for field 2, included two new drinking fountains, installed two new security lights and bird proofed the amenities building.
This project was identified within the 2019-2020 Operational Plan with a budget allocation of $155,000.
These upgrades provide sporting and recreational opportunities to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle for the Camden Haven community.
As part of the Camden Haven Sports Field Lighting and Infrastructure project, sporting fields surface and irrigation upgrade works are underway at the Lake Cathie Sporting Fields located on the corner of Dirah Street and Ocean Drive.
This project includes the installation of a sub-surface automatic irrigation system and field surface upgrades.
Lake Cathie's sand based fields deteriorate quickly during periods of dry weather. The installation of an automatic irrigation system combined with the field surface improvements will ensure the playing surface is maintained to a high standard.
Field improvements will ensure fields are safe and fit for purpose and the durability of the playing surface will be improved allowing for increased usage capacity. The irrigation system will be connected to recycled water.
Funding for this project has been provided in full by the state government through Round 2 of the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Works are expected to be complete by September 2020.
