Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams visited tennis club members to share the news they would be the recipients of $175,000.
"The funding will pay for the resurfacing of two courts, as well as replacing the current lighting on courts one and two with new poles and LED lights to achieve 350 LUX," Mrs Williams said.
Mrs Gehrke said the last time the courts underwent a significant upgrade would have been about 16 years ago.
The upgrade will allow club members some flexibility to play at nighttime, rather than just during the day.
"Those that still work can play during the day but the lights are so bad (at the moment) they can't play at night," Mrs Gehrke said.
The tennis committee hopes the upgrade might attract new members to the club.
Mrs Williams said the tennis courts are very popular, used by both locals and tourists.
"I know how important sport is in Australia and quite often smaller sporting clubs are the hub of a community, so to be able to announce this grant is wonderful news," she said.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said $100 million was being distributed across regional NSW, with communities set to benefit from more than 550 new projects.
To date, rounds one and two of the program have funded over 1000 projects.
The $400 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government's $1.7 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is being invested in local programs and infrastructure that improve the lives of people living in regional NSW.
